Chinnar Wild Life Sanctuary:

This sanctuary is situated 62 kms away from Munnar at Kerala - Tamilnadu boarder.
It spreads over an area of 93 sq. km fully in habited by wild animals like elephants, bears, guars, leopards, spotted deers and several other species. This sanctuary is different from others in Kerala in its vegetation.

Marayoor:

Marayoor is the nearest town near Chinnar wildlife sanctuary. It is the only place in Kerala having a natural growth of sandal wood trees .It is a rain shadow region too. The relics of New Stone Age Civilization have been un earthed here. The children's park spread across a hectare of land under the canopy of a single Banyan tree is of great interest to visitors. Thoovanam water falls and the Muniyara's (ancient man made stone caves) are near from here

Mattuppetty Dam:

Mattupetty is Known for its highly specialized dairy farm, Mattuppetty is situated 13 kms. away from Munnar town. Mattuppetty Dam offers water facilities and unlimited picnic spots are along its entire banks

Pothamedu View Point:

(5 km from Munnar) Pothamedu offers an excellent view of the tea, coffee and cardamom plantations in Munnar. The rolling hills, the Lush mountain and the breathtaking scenery here is ideal for trekking and long mountain walks. Vast expanse of the Western Ghats including the famous Idukki Dam can be seen from here on a clear day.

KDHP Tea Museum:

KDHP (Kannan Devan Hills Plantations Pvt. Ltd.) Museum, just 1.5 km away from Munnar Town (Entry fee Rs.50/- per head)

Devikulam Lake:

This is a beautiful picnic spot with a mythological background.

Eravikulam National Park :

This National Park lies at the crest of the Anamalai ranges near Munnar spreading over 97 sq. kms, of evergreen tropical forest. This Nilgiri Tahr in Eravikulam is the rare breed of mountain goats in the world. In the park, and around the estates in the Anamalai, elephants move across the border, Nilgiri languor, lion-tailed macaques regularly trace the path of their prey and with the new consciousness of conservation, even a leopard or tiger can be spotted.

Rajamala :

This is the natural habitat of the Nilgiri Tahr. Half the word's population of the rare mountain Goat (often called as ibex) which is fast reduced to small herds found in the Eravikulam - Rajamala region. The total number of Nilgiri Tahrs in Rajamala is estimated around 2000. The rare and attractive Neelakkurinji (Strobilatanthes) flowers can be found in this region, which blooms only once in 12 years.

Lockheart Gap:

13 km, away from Munnar. This is an ideal place for adventure tourism and trekking. The fresh mountain air, the mist-clad hills and panoramic view make satisfaction to a tourist.

Blossom National park:

Situated just 2 km from Munnar town, On the Western side of the Ramaswamy Head works reservoir the attractive "Blossom National Park" constructed for the visitors. Boating facility is also available with the help of DTPC in the reservoir.

Valara Waterfalls :

10 km from Adimali On the Kochi- Madurai NH49 between Neriyamangalam and Adimali, there are two waterfalls the Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls. Both are a real treat for the eyes. Valara has chain of waterfalls surrounded by thick green forests. Attukad Waterfalls: (9 km from Munnar ) A panorama of waterfalls and rolling hills, Attukal, located between Munnar and Pallivasal, is a feast for the eyes. The place is also ideal for long treks.

Echo point:

(15 km from Munnar)This scenic place gets its name from the natural echo phenomenon here. Echo point is on the way to Top station from Munnar.

Kundalay:

(20 km from Munnar) Kundalay is a picturesque town on the way to Top Station. The Golf Course which belongs to Tata Tea Ltd. Is located here. The Kundalay artificial dam is another attraction. Kashmiri shikara type boating is available here for the visitors.

Top Station:

The rare and attractive Neelakkurinji (Strobilatanthes) flowers can be found in this region. This plant comes under the category of Piletesials and belongs to the family of Acanthacia. There are about 46 varieties of this plant in Kerala and Strobilatanthes seen in Munnar region takes eight to twelve years to blossom. The flowering season lasts for about one month. The whole area baths in the violet carpet of the Kurinji flowers during this season. The next season is in year 2001.

Anayirangal:

(24 km from Munnar) It's a lush green carpet of tea plants. A trip on the splendid reservoir is an unforgettable experience. The Anayirangal Dam is surrounded by the Tata Tea plantation and evergreen forests. It is an ideal picnic spot.
